Capella Ixtapa, The Perfect Wedding, Honeymoon Destination

A stay at Capella Ixtapa, is the perfect honeymoon or time to get away and experience luxurious relaxation and the finest of cuisine. Planning a destination wedding and looking for the perfect location? Capella, boasts a beautiful cliffside resort over looking the beautiful pacific coast on the outskirts of Ixtapa, Mexico.  This luxurious and intimate boutique resort is noted for their stunning guest rooms, each with their own private furnished balconies, and plunge pools with panoramic views of the rugged coastline.  Ok so we weren’t on our honeymoon, but we like to think we were! David and I enjoyed a week at this exclusive destination and had the opportunity to work closely with the amazing staff to design a table-scape for a private dinner on the beautiful ocean side terrace. How could I resist the beautiful bougainvillea flowers found all over the property? Few things excite me like design, and not even the scorching heat could discourage me from foraging the properties natural elements. I searched for natural finds and gathered aged coconuts and coral pieces along with washed up drift wood. Together they would create a stunning table-scape ready to host an intimate and private dinner. Speaking of dinner.. Can we talk about the incredible cuisine at Capella? We were quickly in love with their mouth watering fresh Civiche.  There is a menu of sorts, but custom al-la-carte dining seemed to be the way things went. Fresh fish caught in the morning, done up any way you like it, was always the specialty and the personal connection with the chef was a nice touch. Then there was the rooms. If you never left your private oasis for the entire stay, it would still be a vacation to remember. The plunge pools heated to your liking, along with the furnished terraces, and the best room service ever, one might not venture out, but should you choose to leave, impeccable service and that cliff side infinity pool will more then satisfy. Many thanks to the entire staff and general manager Phillip for such personal service! We can’t wait to return and have plans for something special at this one-of-a-kind resort.

An Elegant Cambium Farm Barn Wedding

On a brisk and windy day the beautiful wedding barn at Cambium Farms in Caledon was transformed with beautiful flowers and decor, including fresh hues of dusty blues and greys. We couldn’t wait to created some gorgeousness in this unique wedding venue, so we designed the rustic yet elegant wedding ceremony with a floral arch overgrown with white garden roses, blue delphinium and beautiful bunches of fresh foliage. We were thrilled t0 collaborate on this creative assignment with the talented ladies and wedding planners, Thyra and Ellie at Laura and Co. Events. The beautiful table scape decor was the perfect blend of the rustic and the refined. We used our elegant crystal candle sticks mixed with rough hewn wrought iron stands. Low crystal bowls were filled with gorgeous groupings of white flowers including white garden roses and ranunculus along with seeded eucalyptus, lilac leaf and mandina branches and soft and velvety Dusty Miller. There is much appeal for a barn wedding and its the perfect opportunity to blend elegant details with rustic touches. Cambium Farms has a neutral palette and is the perfect venue to create some magic! Beautiful images by our talented friends at Blynda DaCosta Photography.

Beautiful Countryside Indian Wedding

I love the rich colours often associated with Indian and south asian weddings and this gorgeous shoot recently featured in Lavish Dulhan Magazine is no exception.  On a very hot summer day, a few of Toronto’s leading vendors collaborated to execute this beautiful wedding creative loaded with brilliant jewelled toned, colourful flowers and decor. A blend of rustic elements and luxurious details set the stage for our beautiful harvest table and ceremony, while the country side setting and natural elements were the perfect canvas for this backyard affair.  We designed a spectacular floral arch with local foliage, branches and gorgeous fresh flowers. I often love to work with an ‘un-thought of’,  ‘pop of colour’ separate from the initial palette and this time, black details such as the water goblets and saree added a visual twist. I was inspired by the harshness of the black fence amongst the more neutral tones of the summer grasses, fields and trees carried this colour throughout the shoot.
